Harry Beans Coffee Roaster / Bing Surfboards Rider

I've posted this clip before of Bing team rider Harry Gale but I just can't get over how cold it must be surfing at a place that has snow on the ground instead of sand. I love summer :)

Bing NR Slim's for Oceanstyle Longboards in West OZ.

How clean and classy is this NR Slim?? This is one of the slim's that's heading over to WA when they arrive. Both have been glassed in volan to add a little extra weight for the extra glide... This model features a semi-pig outline with a slightly pulled in nose and slightly wider tail but keeps the noseriding features of the BN Lightweight with it's concave nose and foiled rails. Give Toby at Oceanstyle a call for more info, 08 9336 7969.

Seaworthy: 1 of my favourites.

I've been seeing plenty of previews from Nathan Oldfields short movie called Cobblestone-Slipperies with Dane Peterson and it made me sit down and watch one of my favourite surf flicks, Seaworthy. Enjoy.

Deus Surf Swap 3

Overcast skies and the chance of rain kept the crowds down a little on the swap meet this time. I didn't get the chance to have a good walk around but I saw plenty of people carrying their new found treasures under their arm. A good day overall.
These photo's were taken by the local Deus photographer (sorry, I don't know his name) check out more pics here: http://www.deus.com.au/gallery/surfswap3-one/

The little PUCK.

I'm going to order a couple of these little Puck's for stock and one for myself. Here's a short discription about the board.
Wedge cedar stringer, Simmons style inspiration, flat rocker for shorter ride-ability and wave catching, rolled bottom entry w/ rolled panel vee, works supreme in most wave conditions from beach breaks to points. A MUST HAVE FOR YOUR QUIVER!!!!!

Firsthand: Chris Del Moro

Chris is one of my favorite surfers by far. Whether he's riding a 5'11" quad or his 9'6" Bing Elevator, the guy rips. He loves life and appreciates every moment.

The anticipation

A mate sent me this photo he took of a surf he had while I was in the US. This is by far my favourite wave and it's within an hours drive from home. I'll keeping an eye on it over the next few days, the swells looking good, not 100% sure what the wind will be doing just yet. This is what makes surfing such a great sport, the anticipation.....

Rainbow Fin Company

I brought some sample fins back from California from Rainbow Fin Company. RFC are doing some really cool one-off stained glass fins that look the part and surf well. I've also got a couple of sets of bamboo and glass Canard quad fin sets. Going from the feed back so far we'll be bring more over so keep an eye out for them.

MR's stomping ground.

I wasn't expecting too much today, maybe I should have had a look. Water temp's around 16 degrees which is 3 degrees better than what I was surfing in while in California last week. My full wetsuit saved me but my hands and feet were freakin freezing.

Sacred Craft, San Diego, California.

I had the opportunity to attend the Sacred Craft in San Diego this year, a trip well worth doing again. The Bing booth was busy with plenty of familar faces calling in. Had the chance to have a look at some of the other local board builders fine crafts.
Returning back to OZ with a suitcase full of fins by the guys & gals at Rainbow Fin Company. Grabed a few stained glass fins that look super cool. I'll take some pic's when I get home so keep your eyes peeled.

The new Bing Dharma by CDM.

This is the new Bing Dharma that Matt Calvani and Chris Del Moro have been working on together. Looks like a super fun board to surf. We've got a few heading back to OZ including a demo board so keep an eye out for them. If you want one let me know cause I don't think they'll last long in our stock.

The Dharma blends modern surfing with the subtleties of riding a retro fish. This board was designed to catch a lot of waves, supplying endless amounts of fun to wave riders alike. Matt and I set out to design a board that was not only fast down the line but also turned with laser sharp precision and could pivot in the pocket. The beveled rail and concave deck concept allows us to keep the volume of the board for glide while the maintaining the board’s sensitivity in rail-to-rail turns. The outcome of this quad finned,butt-tail wave whip is hands-down the most fun fish I’ve surfed. This design works great back-side and front and a perfect blend of front foot speed and back footed shredding. Suitable for clean lines, barrel riding, full rail turns and a perfect platform to take your aerial antics to the next level. Enjoy the ride and share the stoke. –Chris Del Moro 111

I spent a few days at the Bing & Jacobs factory while I was in California. These guys have got everything running like clock work.

The above photo's and the words below are from Spains Bing Team rider's (Chukito) blog.
This past week we celebrated the 9th Salinas Longboard Festival, in the small town of Salinas, northern Spain. A great gathering of longboards from all over Spain and Europe; a massive event, bigger year after year.Chris del Moro, Kassia Meador, Jen Smith and many other celebrities came to join us, and they were totally blown out by the hospitality and friendship. It was awesome!!

9'10" Bing Elevator heading to Vic.

Thought I'd better post a couple of pics of Stephen Ward's new board. I like the angle of the shot in the bottom photo how you can really notice the stepdeck, the step is actually quiet subtle but in the photo it stands out like dogs genitals. Stephen pointed out a really cool blog called vicloggin.blogspot.com check it out when you get a chance. 9'10" Bing Elevator with a black foam t-band stringer, finished in gloss/sand.

A bunch of boards.

I got a nice bunch of boards in this week ranging from a 6'4" single fin Bing OT Lotus all the way up to a 9'10" Bing Elevator that will be heading down to Vic for Stephen Ward. 4 of these boards have sold but I've still got the 6'4" OT Lotus and the gold 9'8" Elevator in stock. The black foam t-band on the Elevators look the part.

One mans treasure.

Thought you might be interested in this collection of surfboards and surf memorabilia that I was proudly shown. The photo's don't do it any justice, the gear was piled from the floor to the ceiling, including the ceiling. MR twinnies scattered through out, McCoy Tri & Laser Zaps in one part stacked 3 deep, a 7'2" Pat Rawson shaped for Tom Carroll and surfed at Hawaii in 1989 (with a pair of Tom's Quiksilver boardies). An amazing collection and a passionate surfer and collector.

Vintage Surf & Skate Emporium.

I called in to visit Shorty from Vintage Surf & Skate at Anna Bay, Port Stephens. What a great trip back in time in the history of surfing. Surfboards, skateboards, books, anything surf related squeezed into one room.

Sacred Craft, San Diego. 14th - 15th August 2010.

I'm sooo looking forward to going to Sacred Craft in August. I'll be helping out with the guys from Bing Surfboards and drooling over all the fibreglass creations. With a bit of luck we'll stumble across a contact for board bags and leashes that we can bring back to OZ and offer to our fine customers. The rest of my trip will be spent at the factory watching the masters at work. Damn I love my job.

Picture perfect.

This is a carbon copy of how I used to draw pictures of waves when I was at school. Mmmm shows how much I listened to the teacher. Can't you just picture yourself tucked in the shady part of this wave??

New Bing model the 'Levitator'.

Standard Sizes: 9’0” to 10’0”+ Nose: 19 ½” Middle: 23 ½”-24 ¾” Tail: 16 ½” Thickness: 2 ¾”-3 ¼”
Living up to its name, the Bing Levitator does just that. Adopting a similar deck and rocker line to the Bing Elevator, the Levitator combines step deck and concave with a wide outline and foiled down rails, allowing you to defy the laws of gravity and noseriding. Find yourself clearing through every section you encounter while still hanging ten with insane amounts of speed on the nose. Where the Elevator is more ideal in steeper beach break stylewaves, the Levitator works best in waves with a little more slope, like your local point or reef break. Ideal for people who like more volume with stability, glide and lift in the nose, the Levitator is an easy beginner noserider as well as a versatile board for the more advanced surfer.
