One mans treasure.

Thought you might be interested in this collection of surfboards and surf memorabilia that I was proudly shown. The photo's don't do it any justice, the gear was piled from the floor to the ceiling, including the ceiling. MR twinnies scattered through out, McCoy Tri & Laser Zaps in one part stacked 3 deep, a 7'2" Pat Rawson shaped for Tom Carroll and surfed at Hawaii in 1989 (with a pair of Tom's Quiksilver boardies). An amazing collection and a passionate surfer and collector.

Vintage Surf & Skate Emporium.

I called in to visit Shorty from Vintage Surf & Skate at Anna Bay, Port Stephens. What a great trip back in time in the history of surfing. Surfboards, skateboards, books, anything surf related squeezed into one room.

Sacred Craft, San Diego. 14th - 15th August 2010.

I'm sooo looking forward to going to Sacred Craft in August. I'll be helping out with the guys from Bing Surfboards and drooling over all the fibreglass creations. With a bit of luck we'll stumble across a contact for board bags and leashes that we can bring back to OZ and offer to our fine customers. The rest of my trip will be spent at the factory watching the masters at work. Damn I love my job.

Picture perfect.

This is a carbon copy of how I used to draw pictures of waves when I was at school. Mmmm shows how much I listened to the teacher. Can't you just picture yourself tucked in the shady part of this wave??

Rasta & the Lotus.

Classic Rasta style somewhere in Italy surfing a Bing OT Lotus.

New Bing model the 'Levitator'.

Standard Sizes: 9’0” to 10’0”+ Nose: 19 ½” Middle: 23 ½”-24 ¾” Tail: 16 ½” Thickness: 2 ¾”-3 ¼”
Living up to its name, the Bing Levitator does just that. Adopting a similar deck and rocker line to the Bing Elevator, the Levitator combines step deck and concave with a wide outline and foiled down rails, allowing you to defy the laws of gravity and noseriding. Find yourself clearing through every section you encounter while still hanging ten with insane amounts of speed on the nose. Where the Elevator is more ideal in steeper beach break stylewaves, the Levitator works best in waves with a little more slope, like your local point or reef break. Ideal for people who like more volume with stability, glide and lift in the nose, the Levitator is an easy beginner noserider as well as a versatile board for the more advanced surfer.

Perfect winters day.

I love days like this. Cool winters day with light n/w winds puffing all day long, water temp still around 18 degrees and not to many people out. The crowds will be a different story next week with school holidays starting. Thanks again swellnet.com

2-stringer Bing Twin-Fin Fish.

If your looking for something a little different check this out. Matt's made a 5'7" 2-stringer (cedar) Twin-Fin Fish with glass-on wood fins. Love the colour of this seaweed tint.

NR Slims for Oceanstyle.

Got a couple of Bing NR Slims in for Oceanstyle Longboards in WA. The top one's for shop owner Toby and the bottom one belongs to Raoul. These are the first Slims that we've got in and they feel mighty fine under the arm. I'll wait and get some feed back on the boards for the guys in WA, but we may add this model to our stock list.

I'd love to surf this before I send it up to Sandy Feet, I don't think Mike would be to happy with me if I do. I'm heading over to the factory in a few months, hopefully they'll have a demo I can surf while I'm there.

Colourful skies over Merewether.

Super crisp morning with a colourful sky. Something I like about getting up for the early surf is the array of colours we get to see as the sun pops it's head over the horizon. It's the best part of the day. Pic courtesy of Swellnet.com

Mike and Kim from Sandy Feet Surf Co have moved their shop up the road to Port Macquarie. The new shop has the same feel as their old one at North Haven but they've now added some new brands like Ando and Friends, Hippy Tree, Gatho Herio and Critical Slide and of course Bing Surfboards. They've always got a nice selection of vintage boards on offer as well. Call in and say hello next time you're in the area.

Interview with Margaret Yao, Liquidsaltmag.com

Liquidsaltmag.com has done a great interview with manager/team rider Margaret Yao from Bing Surfboards. It was a privilege spending time with her and Matt while they where here in March. Margaret's a great person to be around and super patient, you'd have to be to be around 5 guys for two weeks. http://www.liquidsaltmag.com/2010/05/margaret-yao/

Bing team rider, Hanalei.

Bing team rider, Hanalei was born in Tahiti, her parents are from France, she now lives in Manly, surfs for Bing Surfboards which are made in California and thanks to Ripcurl she gets to travel the world. Talk about multi cultural.

This is one of the nicest Pintails we've had, the tint/pigment work is some of the best you'll see. Feels really nice under the arm as well.

A long left hander and it's on the east coast of OZ

A friend sent me this aerial shot from the book Switch Foot II. This is my all time favourite place to surf and it's not to far from home. Oh, did I tell you it's super sharky...... Switch Foot II's a good read, grab yourself a copy if you haven't already got one.

This Synchro arrived in OZ wanting to get a little plastic surgery done so we gave it a nose job. It had a small shatter on the tip of the nose and it's now been repaired. If you didn't know it was there wouldn't notice it. Ben at Six Ounce has got this one in stock and it's ready with the 5-fin bonzer fin set. Click here to view these pictures larger
